The Rhine Embankment Promenade (Rheinuferpromenade) is among the city’s most popular spots for a stroll. Sitting between the Altstadt (Old Town) and the Rhine River, it’s a favourite destination for locals and visitors, stretching out around 1.5 km and giving you great views of the Rhine Tower and Castle Tower.
The promenade is only a short walk away from Altstadt, where you can grab a bite and sip altbier, a type of beer widely sought after in Dusseldorf. The Rheinturm (Rhine Tower) is among Dusseldorf’s most famous architectural landmarks. Its 164-metre-high observation deck offers a good view of the city’s landscape, starting from the Rhine River to the various buildings and sights within the city. Tonhalle is an impressive concert hall in Dusseldorf that was originally intended to be a planetarium. The Capitol Theater is an old tram depot that was renovated in 1994 and has since become a hub of cultural events and live entertainment in Dusseldorf. It showcases stunning brick architecture and large windows. Inside, you can find a spacious concert hall and a glamorous club.
The theatre’s large hall holds more than 1,000 seats, while the small hall has 400 seats. It’s the venue for major musicals, including Grease and Cabaret.
