We were extremely disappointed with our experience at the Wyndham Garden Downtown Wichita. The boutique hotel my fiancé and I usually stay at was booked so when looking for another option we decided on Wyndham Garden based on their reputation and proximity to our activities (near the other hotel in old Town). When we pulled up to the WG, it immediately looked shabby and upon entering and looking around, we were shocked by the state of the lobby area. The ceiling panels were sagging, visible water damage was everywhere, chipping paint, unfinished floors, baseboards missing, holes in walls..it was disconcerting but we were hoping the rooms were in better shape. Which they technically were-they were pretty clean. Clean sheets and towels, but everything was just adequate at best. Then we noticed the curtains were stained, the floor wasn’t as clean as we thought, And there was an exposed electrical panel right next to the bathtub!
On top of all of this, it was $40 more expensive than the pristine, clean, spacious, comfortable hotel that has so many more generous amenities we usually stay at.
Overall very disappointing, unsatisfactory, and would have never booked this if we had known it was not actually run by Wyndham, it is independently owned and run under the umbrella of Wyndham. This is not an experience of a $160/night hotel-it is what I would expect from a $49 roadside motel.
