Very Nice Hotel
The room was clean and tidy, and great shower though the bathroom showed it's age. The staff was friendly and helpful. I enjoyed eating at their restaurants. I do wish there was a bottle of water in the room, it can be hard to access clean water while traveling.

Room was a little run-down with use. Our toilet was, unfortunately, clogged which was a real bummer. It was fixed the next day but not very welcoming. We had to specifically ask for a sheet change as a dirtied sheet was left in place by housekeeping.
During a few days stay, two if 4 elevators were constantly out of order, making wait time long and annoying, especially during meal times.
Breakfast buffet was great, in presentation, quality and selection. The hotel location is fabulous!
Staff was helpful.

Great place to stay. The hotel is located in a very safe area of Rio and you can do lot just walking. Staff is very friendly and polite and give a big shout to Bruno from the bell desk, and Paulo and Ademar from from the breakfast buffet.

Very clean place. Very safe, lots of staff and had no problems with anyone in the area. AC doesn’t go below 25 C so it was a little hot for us. Laundry service was $$$ so don’t recommend for that. Area is well maintained and about 40 mins to 1 hour depending on traffic to center of Rio.

This hotel doesn’t deserve its five-star rating and needs serious renovation. It’s a massive property overrun with noisy tourists and families.
Pros: Spacious, comfortable room. Friendly staff.
Cons: Slow, undersized elevators. Restaurant feels like a cruise ship cafeteria. You must cross a busy highway to reach the beach (with long traffic light waits), and there’s no beach service. Severely understaffed with long check-in/check-out lines. Staff is compartmentalized and inefficient despite being helpful.
Verdict: Skip it unless you’re on a tight budget. This is not a five-star experience.

Disappointing experience with inflexible management
I booked a Superior room but was initially assigned an accessible room designed for guests with disabilities. When I requested a standard room as originally booked, I was charged a supplement – an unacceptable practice for a hotel in this category.
The staff operates with the rigidity of civil servants: procedurally correct but completely inflexible. Any deviation from standard protocol seems impossible, regardless of the circumstances.
Skip the breakfast. The beachfront cafés along Barra offer far superior quality at half the price. The hotel’s breakfast room resembles a ferry cafeteria – relentlessly noisy and packed with screaming young children. Not the atmosphere one expects when paying premium rates.
Unfortunately, this reflects the broader reality of Barra: large convention hotels designed for mass tourism and corporate events. The Windsor fits squarely in this category – efficient processing of guests with minimal attention to individual service. If you’re attending a conference or need beachfront access, it serves its purpose. If you’re seeking genuine hospitality, look elsewhere in Rio.

I spent a week at the hotel and it was lovely. Let me start by saying that they staff there are very professional and very pleasant to interact with. The executive room was not very much to my liking, too small, and the bathroom is outdated; however, I somewhat settled because of everything else that was good. The breakfast was awesome, and I mean it. Plenty to choose from. I will definitely recommend this hotel. Ideal place to stay

Barra da Tijuca is far from the touristy areas, which appeals to me. It has a much calmer atmosphere. The hotel is within walking distance to the Sunday Farmers Market and within a cab ride away from a shopping center and the subway, which can take you to the better-known beaches of Leblon, Copacabana and Ipanema. The property was fairly clean and the staff very professional and helpful. The morning breakfast was excellent and the Saturday Feijoada buffet was not bad either. Now the bad. The hotel as some noted felt outdated. I would agree with that assessment. The hotel is not as ecofriendly as others either. It uses single use shampoo/conditioner plastic bottles instead of using the more ecofriendly in shower dispensers. The shampoo/conditioner provided were of poor quality. We ended up buying some at the grocery store. Another part that felt outdated was the in-room thermostat. It is still the old school dial instead of a digital one and there was no option to turn down the fan or set it to auto. For a high-end hotel, it did not offer family friendly rooms with queen size beds which is a shame given the room had plenty of room to support queen size beds.
Another thing that I found annoying was that I was not able to charge meals to my room. The hotel did not even offer me the opportunity to have my credit card pre-approved for incidentals, which made it more difficult.
