Excellent location and lovely staff, right in the heart of things. However, unsuitable for anyone with any mobility issues, or having to get luggage up narrow / steep flights of stairs. Rooms are clean, but very basic and small. No dining or bar facilities on the premises, although a 10% discount is offered at a nearby restaurant.

The hotel is in a prime location very close to the city centre and pubic transport including the central station. My room was close to the reception desk and faced the main road so it was noisy especially at night. I stayed in a single room which was small however, was ideal as I was staying alone. The bathroom was very clean, but the shower tray did easily flood if you were in the shower too long. I would stay again if I was visiting Amsterdam due to the location of the hotel and compared to other hotels in the area it is cheaper.

The hotel has a great location and is very convenient to arrive from the train station. It is an old building but the room is in good condition. The bed was comfortable, but the pillow wasn't, fortunately, they provided me with a better pillow, and it was better. However, this place has a couple of issues. First, as it is an old building the walls are very thin and you can hear everything that happens in the halls and the next rooms. I even heard when the cleaning staff was opening a trash bag. Second, the doors slammed very hard so you can hear it quite clear from the room. Third, the doors have a system that activates a noisy alarm if not closed correctly and the first night/morning the door alarms rang about 50 times on my floor from 7am, so I couldn't sleep from that time, and they didn't stop until midday. It was terrible! I think this happened when the cleaning staff was cleaning the rooms because I could also hear the vacuuming and slamming of doors. I complained to the front desk staff and they just told me that they could no do anything, that it was an old building and there was no noise cancellation, and that it was not true that the doors alarms were ringing several times from 7am, they were so rude and unfriendly. Fortunately hotels.com staff helped me with this and the next day there was no the same issue.

We really enjoyed staying here. The person at reception for check in was so helpful (he moved us to a different room with less stairs - as we had a very heavy suitcase) The room was tiny, but that's to be expected for the hotel location. Yes room was good, front staff were helpful. The cleaners were very noisey with the rubbish bags on the second floor throughout the day. Yes not best time to try sleep during the day, but when your out to 4 or 5am appreciate a little peace for 8 til 11am at least. But other than that a good place to stay for a couple of nights :)
