After reading reviews that say this accommodation is excellent, we booked for two nights with friends. By the end of our stay we were bitterly disappointed. Shame, we had hoped for so much more. It looks like a family run business with different generations around the premises. Evening bar staff on duty were pleasant. We want to say that the buffet dinner was very good (it did cost £10 more, each, than we expected). However, rooms and breakfast were poor. There aren’t enough characters here to give full details but here is a summary.
Toilet seat fell off toilet, 3 times. Reported and loosely replaced.
Toilet flush button broken.
Mold on bathroom window and tiles. Reported and wiped down.
Rotten blind, ripped and was replaced
Cracked sink.
At breakfast we asked for more tea and pots were checked to see if empty. Poor.
Breakfast is minimal, any extra charged at 50p per item.
Language was often a problem when reporting issues.
On checking out, reception was unmanned, we had locate a member of kitchen staff. Manager unavailable in person at checkout, he told us, on a phone, to email him. Tax added to final bill, no one available to explain what this was for.
Overall, this is not a great place to stay. Restaurant might be fine but B&B needs total refit, rethink, training.
After high expectations we won’t be staying again.
