Hearthstone Inn Boutique Hotel Halifax - Dartmouth
6/10 Okay
"The good: Restructured entryway with beautiful large wooden doors with brass fittings & rings. Opulent main lobby, beautiful dark woodwork, museum like. Beautiful in its day but like a neglected child it’s telling and felt dingy & very dark. (ie a beautiful ceiling light fixture with shades crooked and tattered with a few burned out bulbs)Restaurant/bar on site. Beautiful 4 post king bed, comfortable, very high (I needed to use my suitcase as a step up to get in it but no big deal) Free 24/7 coffee in lobby. Large Superstore and lovely waterfront beach across the 4 lane road.
The bad: sketchy af neighbourhood behind an auto repair shop undergoing some major big digging and perhaps expansion?Directly across from the parking area looked to be an old motel converted into rundown apartments and above three older 3 story apartment buildings.Although free breakfast is advertised the kitchen was “closed this week”, no biggie to me as I typically don’t eat breakfast(maybe call ahead if you do.THE Ubeautiful 4 poster bed with a tattered, ripped, VERY discoloured & torn cheap netting from years of wear & tear wrapped very poorly and differently around each post-it’s dirty, ripped, discoloured from hand oils & dusty-just get rid of it & let the natural wood be beautiful on its own. King size pillow cases on regular pillows, tuck & fold the excess fabric inside not twisted like cellophane, homemade artwork from 50’s got to go, no breakfast kitchen was closed this week?"
