Top neighborhoods in Puebla

Puebla Historic Center
Discover a World Heritage Site filled with colonial buildings in the Historic Monuments Zone, where you can explore Barrio de los Sapos, Barrio del Artista, and the stunning Puebla Cathedral.

Angelópolis
The neighborhood boasts luxurious residential developments, cultural spaces, and parks. Explore attractions like La Estrella de Puebla, The Art Park, and the Baroque Museum, or shop at Centro Comercial Angelópolis.

La Paz
La Paz offers a peaceful retreat from Puebla's bustling center with its upscale residential charm. This quiet neighborhood gives travelers an authentic glimpse into suburban Mexican life, where tree-lined streets and contemporary homes create a relaxed atmosphere. Nearby shopping options like Galerías Serdán and Triangulo Las Animas provide convenient retail therapy without the crowds. Dining here features casual family restaurants serving traditional poblano cuisine, though options are limited after dark. Most visitors opt for vacation rentals in private homes with modern amenities and sometimes private pools. Getting around requires ride-sharing services, as public transit is minimal in this car-friendly suburb.

Barrio De Analco
Step back in time as you wander the 16th-century cobblestone streets of Barrio De Analco, one of Puebla's oldest neighborhoods. The historic Templo de San José showcases fascinating Tlaxcalan stonework alongside Spanish colonial design. Visit the Museo de la Revolución Mexicana in a beautifully restored mansion, then discover traditional pulquerías and artisan workshops tucked beneath bougainvillea-draped balconies. The area boasts family-run eateries serving authentic mole poblano and chiles en nogada. Colonial buildings converted into charming boutique hotels offer intimate courtyards with traditional tilework. Walking is the best way to explore these narrow historic streets, as the neighborhood maintains its peaceful, authentic atmosphere away from commercial tourism.

Xanenetla
Xanenetla transforms Puebla's colonial walls into vivid canvases where Indigenous stories come alive. This "City of Murals" invites you to wander cobblestone streets past centuries-old churches while colorful artwork tells tales of heritage and revolution. History buffs will love exploring the mysterious Secrets of Puebla Tunnels or taking the short 15-minute stroll to Puebla's UNESCO-listed historic center. Local cantinas and family-run fondas serve authentic poblano cuisine at wallet-friendly prices. Most visitors stay in central Puebla, though small guesthouses offer a genuine cultural immersion. The neighborhood's narrow streets are best explored on foot, with limited bus service connecting to major attractions.

Beneath the shadow of volcanoes, baroque churches and colorful buildings line streets where Mexico's culinary history was born. The magnificent cathedral anchors a UNESCO-listed center where talavera pottery workshops reveal centuries-old techniques. The International Baroque Museum showcases artistic treasures in a striking modern building. For families, Africam Safari offers close encounters with wildlife, while the Estrella de Puebla observation wheel provides panoramic views. Don't miss the sweet shops of Calle de los Dulces, where candied camotes tempt from behind glass counters.

"Everything was amazing. Good service"
InterContinental Presidente Puebla by IHG
"Most of the front desk staff were welcoming, friendly, and attentive, in particular Monserrat, Yazmin, and a young man whose name I didn’t catch. Amaranta, the concierge, was OUTSTANDING! She ALWAYS greeted us with a smile and salutations. Amaranta also went out of her way to ensure we were having an extraordinary experience. She constantly sent us photos, links, and suggestions. In addition, she set up our airport pickup, and our driver was pleasant and informative. The breakfast buffet was delicious, and all the waiters were happy to attend to our needs. Manuel, the bellboy, and the gentlemen at the valet were all friendly and greeted us with smiles. Our room was clean, but there were issues with the AC and the vent in the bathroom. We spent a very uncomfortable first night in a hot and humid room. We informed the front desk the following morning, and the maintenance crew was sent to our room. The AC tank needed refueling, and the bathroom fan and sensor needed battery replacements. We were offered a mere 15% off of our first night for our discomfort. Personally, we thought management could have offered a better discount for the lack of comfort we experienced during the late hours of our first night and the following morning. The location of the hotel is near main highways and roads. We booked here for its old world charm exterior, but we were a bit disappointed with the irrelevant modern works of arts. The hotel needs a renovation, and the tubs are hazardous."
