Stay Details: Mid-June | Family of 4 (2 adults, 2 children ages 9 & 10) | 3-Bedroom Apartment with Rooftop Pool
The Highlights:
The resort itself is amazing, set beautifully within the natural mangroves. The property is massive, and embracing the provided bicycles is a must. Once you get used to biking, it is a fantastic way to get around, it is a 6-minute ride to the beach and tennis courts, or a 30-minute ride exploring the completely shaded natural trails. The included breakfast served by the beach is amazing and was a major high point of our stay.
The Accommodation:
At around $1,000 USD per day during low season, the room rate is fair. However, for a five-star resort, the 3-bedroom apartment needed some maintenance. Despite being recently renovated, the finishes are a bit rough around the edges, and closing doors and kitchen cabinets feels clunky. If you plan to cook, be aware that the kitchen is not very functional as it lacks basic utensils and cookware.
The Drawbacks:
The massive downside to this resort is the food and beverage pricing, which is so exorbitant it completely overshadowed the trip. The prices exceed what you would pay at the Four Seasons in New York City. For context: $120 for a plate of pasta $75 for Eggs Benedict $12 for a can of sparkling water
Verdict:
It is definitely a beautiful place worth trying for the outstanding mangrove experience and biking trails, but go in with your eyes wide open regarding the astronomical food and drink cost.
