The Diamond Head Theater is Hawaii’s slice of Broadway, with live shows and performances year-round. Bring your family and experience live theater like you’ve never seen before.

With shows like “Murder on the Orient Express” and “Beehive,” you will experience an array of emotions and music here. The theater is truly a community theater in Hawaii, and it’s Hawaii’s oldest performing arts center. In an effort to educate and foster an appreciation for the performing arts among the local community, the theater offers singing, dancing, and acting classes as well as summer programs for kids and teens and a youth theater troupe.

Diamond Head Theater history and highlights

The Diamond Head Theater began in 1915 and was known as The Footlights. The name was later changed to Honolulu Community Theater, and finally to its current moniker. It’s the third-oldest community theater in the United States.

The actors, musicians, production crew, and even the ushers are all volunteers from the community. They work together to create the spectacle and shows that capture the admiration of 40,000 patrons each year. With over a century under its belt, the Diamond Head Theater is a unique and wondrous experience for the whole family.

Good to know when visiting the Diamond Head Theater

Tickets may be purchased online, by telephone, or in person at the box office. Guests should arrive in plenty of time to find their seats before the show, as late arrivals will not be permitted to take their assigned seating after the show has begun. All attendees must have a ticket, including children. Most shows are not recommended for children under age 5, though toddler-friendly shows play on occasion.

Enjoy a delicious pre-show dinner and drinks at the nearby 12th Ave. Grill, serving food prepared from local ingredients, or head for after-show dessert at the popular Leonard's Bakery. Both are located about a mile from the theater.
