I was not greeted by the employee working the desk. Once my reservation was confirmed, the woman at the desk started the check in process. However, after 5 minutes of silently clicking on her computer, I jokingly asked “is your computer running slowly today?” She snapped back at me, saying something along the lines of “ it doesn’t just magically happen, I have to route it through other sites.” The tone of her response was so aggressive that I raised my hands in a gesture of understanding and decided to remain quiet. Unfortunately the situation didn’t improve. After waiting FIFTEEN more minutes, she called someone on the phone to help her. Throughout the entire time, she didn’t acknowledge me, explain that there was a problem with the check in process, or offer an apology for the delay. When she finally completed the process, she mentioned details like breakfast and the elevators, but there was no apology for the long wait or the poor customer service. This experience really soured me on Avid hotels. We have stayed at Avid in other locations, and had positive experiences. I will likely pass them by in the future.
