Punctuated by a series of glorious Italian cities, The Via Aemilia runs from Rimini to Piacenza, straight through the agricultural heart of the peninsula. While the landscape isn't particularly thrilling, these exquisite small cities and their amazing art/architecture/food are. And now I will add the Villino Porporano to my list of marvels in Emilia-Romagna.
Elegant and refined, this property has it all: lovely, comfortable, thoughtful rooms and common areas, a breakfast buffet worthy of 5 stars, and one of the most lush and seductive gardens I've seen at any small hotel.
The proprietess couldn't be kinder or more helpful... and speaks superb english. Zoe, the sweetest cocker spaniel, is also available for cuddles and food-tasting!
While it may seem out of the way, it's a quick 7 minute drive to the centro and the autostrada.
Absolutely delicious in ever way!
10 stars.
