Where to start? First the good...
The place is new and kept very clean. The bed was moderately comfortable.
Now....
The hotel never told Google, Expedia or anyone else how to find the place. We went on a 45 minute goose chase that took befriending a boda boda driver to show us the way.
The receptionist was nice enough and checked us in efficiently. We were asked to place dinner orders at 7 pm. The menu was a complete joke. After 2 1/2 hours of waiting, we still did not have food, with no explanation. We had to ask the bartender to open our beer bottles. He kept losing the bottle opener! We finally gave up on dinner and went to bed. A half hour later came a knock that dinner was ready. Really? We were kept up by loud partying on the other side of the compound. Yelling out the window for them to be quiet did nothing. After finally falling asleep, we were woken at 3:45 by a rooster meandering around the compound, crowing with all his might. That was it for sleep last night. Getting a shower in the morning featured hot water, but minimal pressure and a clean but very cheap towel. No bath mats. We declined breakfast as our confidence in the staff was completely shot.
I highly recommend finding anywhere else to stay if your travels take you through Fort Portal. It’s too bad, the place has a lot of potential.
