I messaged the hotel requesting an earlier check-in, they replied through this app stating an additional charge of £30 but I didn’t get this until I arrived. I asked at reception 1pm, was told in no uncertain terms and abruptly that it would be 3pm when I could check-in. This from the (I assume the duty manager), who spoke to me at breakfast the following morning, re my concerns re the cleanliness and the extremely dated furnishings, he shared with me that the hotel was being refurbished soon. I shared photographs via email and in person at reception around 6pm (pics to follow). The plus points were that reception staff seemed to be sympathetic, the breakfast was good and the bed linen was clean. The said manager, when speaking seemed an ok guy, even though his total lack of effort in even attempting to get me into my room sooner than 3pm had already disappointed, not even an attempt at trying, and after a 4 hour drive would have been nice.
This hotel is listed as *4 honestly it’s a *2 at best.
