This hotel is getting rather run down, and we had numerous issues with our stay.
First disappointment was the fact that our door lock stuck EVERY SINGLE TIME we tried to use it. It would take anywhere from 5-20 swipes before the door would finally open. Informed the front desk, and they said, yeah, it does that - try pushing the handle up instead of down (that did not help). Extremely frustrating when you're just trying to open your door!
Secondly, we had NO television for the 4 full days we were there. They have Direct TV, and I know that they should have been able to get it up and running within that timeframe. Pretty boring sitting in the room in the evening with no TV. Independence does not exactly have a thriving night life, so not a lot of options to pass time.
Again, we were there for 4 days, and there was absolutely NO housekeeping service. We had to ask for clean towels, had to ask for toilet paper for the room, and the trash can was overflowing at the end of 4 days. I would have at least expected the bed to be made and the room to be refreshed daily.
We have stayed at this location in the past and had no issues, so I don't know if there is new ownership or what the issue is, but we will most likely find somewhere else to stay the next time we are in town. It's a shame, because this hotel used to be nice.
