We had a very disappointing experience during our recent stay. The hotel website showed rooms with bathtubs, which influenced our decision to book. However, at check-in, we were told only a shower room was available — no alternatives. When we followed up, staff said our room normally costs £30 more, but we were “lucky” not to be charged extra. This felt unfair since we didn’t even get the room we expected.
The staff were dismissive and unhelpful. We were placed in a disabled-access room, which was not suitable for us. The sink was very low, the shower area was cramped, and the automatic door kept opening when our toddler accidentally pressed the button. The bed was made up of two singles pushed together, uneven and uncomfortable.
On top of that, the room was not clean — the edges of the cabinet near the door were dusty. We also had to pay a £50 deposit at check-in without prior notice, which was frustrating.
Overall, this stay did not meet the standards we expect from a Marriott hotel. Definitely not worth the price or reputation.
