I was not expecting a luxury hotel, but this was a new low for us. They are trying to emulate the American hostels, we stayed in those in California, but there isn't a comparison. As you enter the tiny room (no room to fully unpack your bags), the smell of disinfectant is very strong, almost unbearable. There is a bunk bed, which I cannot comment too much about, not comfortable, nor uncomfortable. The bathroom is tiny, you shower almost in the toilet (I avoided using the shower for this reason). There is a small TV and a desk which is not really big enough for anything. It would not be too bad if it wasn't for the poignant smell of industrial disinfectant, which to me smelled like urine, and it ruined the experience. There is a receptionist in the morning and then from 5pm. If you arrive earlier, there is an automatic check-in machine which wasn't working when we got there. Someone finally came and fixed it, but it wasn't capable of recognising my booking number from Hotels.com. Even though we were supposed to be able to check in from 4pm, we had to go away and come back after 5 when a human receptionist was there.
We loved the city of Biarritz and we intend to return for a longer stay, but unfortunately this hotel is not going to be on our list of hotels.
