I have stayed for 9 nights with my family and overall we had a pleasant stay. Obviously we were prepared and not expecting a 5 stars (like the Renaissance in front).
Pros: We had an executive suite with king size bed at the 3rd floor. In general the furniture, floors and bathroom have clean and remodeled look. The team at the front desk is very friendly and the couple of times I made special requests they were very responsive.
We felt very safe walking around - even at 11pm-12am. There are tons of chinese bakeries (Maxim Bakery and Iris Bakery our favs) to get breakfast, 2 modern shopping malls (Tangram and Sky view) and plenty of restaurants to eat (Zou’s our fav for dinner).
Nice and walkable distance (5-7 min) to the Flushing Main metro station to get to Manhattan in 30 min without changing trains and even being able to get up to Hudson yards on the same line!!
Cons: Did not get our room cleaned everyday, had to stop 3 times to the front desk and request for the service. No matter every time our room was cleaned and we got fresh sheets one time there were several cigarette burns through all the sheets.
One time one of the guys tried to open the door of the room at 7:00 am (without knocking the door) stating he was bringing fresh towels (while we were sleeping and without requesting those?)
There is a lack of noise reduction between rooms/halls. You can hear people talking, crying, arguing, etc at any time.
If you are on budget, very recommended!
