I recently stayed at the Occidental Hotel in Ljubljana and, unfortunately, my experience was quite disappointing.
The hotel itself is very plain and business-like, lacking any charm or warmth. As a gold member, I usually expect at least some recognition or the possibility of an upgrade, but here that was not the case at all. When I inquired, I was told the hotel was fully booked. However, I checked online and saw that rooms in all categories were still available — so it felt like they were just making excuses rather than trying to accommodate loyal guests.
Our room was very small and dark, definitely not comfortable enough for a longer stay. We had planned to stay three nights but decided to leave after just one because it simply wasn’t worth it.
The only positive thing I can say is that the location is good, making it easy to get around Ljubljana. Otherwise, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel, especially if you’re hoping for any perks as a loyalty member.
