Personally, it did not bother me there was no elevator. Glad this was stated in the description. There's parking for a small fee on site, this was a peace of mind. This place is at the heart of everything, and convenient and the price reflects it.
According to the front desk, we got her fav suite, room 9, 2floor, in the center. This room had THE view. Looked to the St Lawrence River.
It's a heritage building, traces of old is visible throughout the building, mismatched carpets, sticky wood and old dust? you can smell it too. There are still original fixtures with patina that gives character.
Our room had high ceilings (9ft?) was very bright and spacious. It was like a one bedroom apartment setting, on the right the bedroom, center the living room, left was the kitchen/dining.
-The main room had the bathroom; bright, cute, but tiny and decayed. The room had a ceiling fan and a mobile A/C unit that helped keeping it cool. Only one plug available to one side of the bed but we pulled a lamp with plugs from another room and plugged into a hidden plug behind the bed to have extra plugs on the other side of the bed.
-The living room had the pullout sofa and with plenty of space
-The kitchen was small, old, but sufficient. We didn't use it but has the necessities. Cute dining table. Problem: exposed insulation under sink.
It was mentioned new management will plan renovations, and that will add to the list to justify the hefty price. I'd be looking forward to staying here again.
