I was not surprised by the overall quality of the room, especially upon first entering through the oddly placed entrance door; The room was small and quirky with “thrift-shop-esque” decor. The view from the window was a brick wall, and we were entertained by the multiple signs Karen has framed and posted on the walls, constantly reminding us about “quiet hours” and “the additional charge of $25 per towel missing”. However, the price was very reasonable for an in-season stay at the beach.
What I was quite disappointed by was obvious lack effort in making guests feel - like guests. Getting our stuff in and out was a challenge given the parking situation and many flights of stairs to get to the room. The “coffee station” screamed “We want our guests to know we want to maybe try to be accommodating”.
In hindsight, the biggest issue we had was the feeling that we were “on the clock”. It was made clear our car would be towed if not out of the lot by 10:30 am checkout. The morning of checkout, the cleaning staff first began knocking around 9am - by 10am they began to gather by our door, and by 10:15am were all waiting and watching us as we finished packing up - which is quite awkward and uncomfortable in such tight quarters.
To sum it up, the beach was super fun and we had a great time not staying in the room :)
