Check-in was not a comfortable experience, the guy was cold and unfriendly. Room was decent, bed ok if not too soft. Room had a coffee machine but no coffee or tea. The windows had double-blinds (blackout and privacy), which you need to leave the privacy ones down or you’ll cop an eyeful of the guests across the road in the Holiday Inn…and vice versa!
Breakfast was uneventful - the usual ‘continental breakfast’, which if you are European you realise bears no resemblance to what we call a continental breakfast. Although they did have a pancake maker which was a novelty. The usual suspects of Froot Loops, bagels, and high fructose corn syrup goop to put on everything was in abundance.
Deadwood is just one big tourist trap and casino binge-fest. Trying to locate restaurants, involved going through casinos - do not expect a quiet meal! I can recommend Maverick’s Steak House - food was good and reasonably healthy, and staff were friendly and a good laugh.
We were only passing through for one night, which was enough.
