The best thing about this hotel was the staff / service, who were all excellent; however, be aware of:
1. When booking, ensure the hotel put you into the Independent 'Hotel' and not the Independent 'Suites'. These are two different buildings 20 metres apart, but differ materially. The 'Hotel' is modern and sleek but the 'Suites' are stale and dated.
2. Breakfast - Be careful! If you book to include breakfast and you are placed in the Suites, they then advise you that breakfast is not available to you. You may need to argue this with reception.
3. Breakfast was very poor. Overpriced and inadequate.
4. The Suites have a heavy 'European style' door to the premises, to which reception provides a key; however, this door, straight onto the street, was often left open, allowing access to all, therefore, this was not a secure property.
5. Perhaps because of its proximity to the terminus, there were beggars on the street. Pleasant enough, but intrusive.
6. The 8th floor Terrace Bar was nice, with good views but prices were steep. Expect to pay about €25 for a bottle of beer short and mixer.
7. Good restaurants nearby. I recommend 'La Famiglia' and 'Hosteria La Stazione'.
Overall, my family and I had a pleasant stay in Rome, and as you would expect, made the most of the tourist attractions; however, staff apart, this was in spite of, rather than because of the hotel's contribution.
I would recommend shopping around for your hotel before deciding on the Independent Hotel / Suites.
