Mike's really grew on us over the course of a 5-day 6-night stay. The friendliness and helpfulness of all the staff is infectious, this attitude affects all the guests; after a few days of hanging out, diving, eating with the other guests, you find everyone's happy, everyone's a friend.
The resort has three parts: the hotel, the restaurant, and the dive operation. The hotel is nice but not deluxe, the room was very clean, spacious, and comfortable. The bed was so-so but not out of line for this price point, as were the provided amenities. Housekeeping was great, any requests were immediately looked after.
The best review goes to the dive shop, headed by accommodating and friendly Nic. After deciding not to do our planned Advanced Open Water course, Nic set us up with two day trips diving at Apo Island which is a must-do for any diver. Novice divers, we were paired with divemaster Romel. Although not taking specific lessons from him, he was a most patient and helpful teacher, especially for my wife who felt very comfortable and safe diving with him. He also had amazing eyes, able spot so many interesting things. I kept trying to find something before he saw it but generally to no avail.
I think the lowest review goes to the restaurant. The food we tried was just OK, but worse was the slow service. Example - breakfast ordered the night before for 7:00, we got coffee at 7:20, breakfast, just fresh fruit at 7:30, no one else in the restaurant.
Still, really enjoyed our stay!
