We were here for the temple stay experience which was in our bucket list, so had accepted the high cost for the nights stay as one of those things.
Accommodation is sparkling clean and new, but very very basic. Public bath is small and very basic.
There is no shower available in the morning at all. Food was good at dinner and breakfast - all Japanese. Service was very good.
The prayer ceremony started bang on time, and was just about half an hour. It was as expected, something to experience.
Property is in a fantastic location so close to all attractions of Koya making it possible to stay one night and see everything. Although curfew after 9pm is noted in the website, they must have succumbed to the pressures of tourists, we were told the small gate is open all night. During our stay, we noticed that there was not one Japanese tourist...
They were happy to let us leave our car until check in time as well as a couple of hours after check out.
The staff were perfectly efficient and helpful, if a bit stiff - as can be expected of monks...
