Let me start off by saying that we don't usually stay in hotels as nice -and pricy!- as this one. Perhaps this has some sort of bias in my review!
The hotel is an absolutely gem. It's gorgeous, and you'll feel like taking picture of it all day long. The room was spacious and we loved the architecture style -modern but very inspired by traditional Merida architecture.
On the other hand, I have to admit that I felt that the hotel was a bit stingy. The included breakfast was very frugal -and even if you were to ordered milk with your coffee, the would charge you for it. Wi-Fi wasn't great in our bedroom, and they couldn't fix it. The hotel staff were always willing to help and serve, but sometimes didn't know how (i.e., I called them a few days in advance to book a trip through them to Chichen Itza and I was astonished by how little they communicated to me about the trip -it almost sounded as if they didn't want me to buy through them!).
It is perhaps because of these reasons, along with the very high price of the hotel, that I wouldn't recommend it to someone else. Merida is gorgeous and fun and safe, and there are many other great hotels.
I hope this helps someone else.
