This hotel is cheaper than the others surrounding this. While our stay was not terrible, we can see why there is a cost difference.
Pros: the hotel is in a historical property and the common areas are beautiful. The housekeeper was very nice and we were close to the activities we wanted to do in NOLA. Each room has a mini fridge. Kitchen has a microwave.
Cons: the surrounding area is dirty and very smelly. There was a large dumpster sitting outside of the hotel, likely related to ongoing construction in the area, but it smelled terrible and attracted flies. No designated parking, but we did not have issues with street parking (however, not sure if this would be a problem on weekends). Heard a lot of police cars at night. In our rooms, the curtains do not cover the windows fully so when the sun rises it becomes very bright in the room, and always woke me up. It would have been nice to have a little caring touch to welcome us, such as access to filtered water. That was not the case so we walked to a gas station to buy our own. The first night we arrived, the front door did not lock properly. The owners and employees of the hotel are not on site so it was a bit alarming to have the door unsecured given the area. But when we alerted the owner to the issue through text, they fixed it quickly.
So, it’s not like I would not recommend someone to stay here, but I probably wouldn’t again.
