A truly beautiful property that includes orchards, animal farm, forested hills and winding nature trails. The staff went out of their way to accommodate my requests for beds and even provided delicious vegan options when they heard my companion was vegan. During the included breakfast, the staff were eager to wait on me, squeezing fresh orange juice and explaining the delightful assorted Tuscan treats they had prepared. Hiking in the hills in and around the farm, and watching the sun set from high above Florence is an experience I'll never forget.
My only constructive criticism for the property is their need to invest in mosquito traps or some kind of mosquito control; I was constantly being bitten during my stay. I can imagine that the standing water in and around the area make it heaven for mosquitos and their eggs, so I understand why this is an issue. I would recommend some non-pesticide options such as CO2 mosquito traps that would comply with the organic nature of the farm, and reduce itchiness among the guests. That said, the mosquitos were, for the most part, only a minor nuisance, and did not prevent me from enjoying my stay here.
I will definitely stay at Fatttoria di Maiano again in the future, and happily recommend this experience to others!
