CHECK-IN PROCESS: Check-in time is 3:00 p.m., and although the hotel was not busy (only one other couple arrived after me), we did not get to our room until 3:20 p.m. and then only to find the room floor had not been adequately cleaned and was sticky from something foreign on the surface. A staff member rewashed the floor while we waited outside the room for it to dry. We finally checked into our room at 4:00 p.m.
COURTESY COMPENSATION: None was forthcoming, so we asked for it. The manager provided us with two courtesy margaritas while we waited for our room and late checkout the next day.
PRIVACY: The layout of the hotel is “L-shaped,” with the lengthwise part of the “L” facing northward; it’s a common area with tables and chairs inside and outside on the patio area. The base of the “L” faces west to the ocean, and the rooms are on that side, with the pool area directly below. Our room was in the corner of the “L,” so we could not open our blinds.
BATHROOMS: Tiny. Not a spa experience. A significant issue with the shower was water pouring out from under the shower door and onto the bathroom floor, and this required using the shower mat and towels to stop the flow. Now, where to put the wet materials?
TOWELS: When we asked for clean towels in the morning, a staff member told us there were none (something about them being in the laundry). Sometime later in the morning, we did get some, though.
