Excellent business hotel meets resort. Located right on a good stretch of beach facing the Gambia River estuary, with a lovely pool and poolside bar. My room was the best I’ve encountered yet in sub-Saharan Africa, and would be similar to a Holiday Inn in North America/Europe. Mosquito nets were provided (there are so many mosquitos here) and the AC was powerful. They will spray your room to repel mosquitos upon request, but be aware that the chemical smell will last a while, so you need to leave the room. With their help, I was able to avoid any mosquito bites in Banjul. Breakfast is basic but good, with eggs, fruit, bread, beans, and sliced tomato, served with coffee/tea and Bissap (Hibiscus) juice. Within walking distance to Arch 22 and the market in downtown Banjul. All taxi rides are 500 CFA within Banjul - don’t let them cheat you! Try to pick up your cab a little ways down from the hotel if possible, so you aren’t associated with staying at a nice hotel. Also, the garden in the hotel is beautiful with so many tropical birds. Excellent stay.
