Shaker Village provided a lot of rich history with plenty of exhibits and tours led by very knowledgeable guides. We loved the variety of activities available and even the space to roam freely and spend time with some of the animals as well.
The restaurant was hard to get a table at without a reservation, so they definitely recommend that. The food was okay, but we expected better for the price point. The yeast rolls though were the best bread I had ever had IN MY LIFE! I’d eat there again just for that! Management and service at the restaurant were very sweet, too.
As far as the dwellings, it was nice to see that dogs were allowed on the property, even though we left ours at home. The common areas of the dwellings, such as hallways and stairways were pretty dusty and had a lot of cobwebs, but the room itself was mostly clean. The corners and under the bed was dusty and even had a few dead bugs in webs.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay. It’s what I would expect from a place focused on history and preservation.
