The biggest problem here is the slow internet service. The owners should do something about this. They could put signal transmitters in each area of the hotel. That would be a big help. They could purchase more bandwidth. They could provide hardwire connections next to each transmitter.
Other than the problems with the Wifi, the hotel is excellent. It is a beautiful old pharmacy school, which was later converted to a large home. It has all antique furniture that is beautifully polished. The hard wood floors are beautifully polished also. The rooms, some of which could use more light, are very nice and have a beautiful view overlooking the city of Ouro Preto.
The breakfast buffet is nicely presented, and the service is good. Although eggs are not on the menu, being American I asked for fried eggs and toast and they prepared them exactly as I had asked and without charge. The staff is friendly and helpful. All the breads and cakes are very tasty, as is the coffee and yogurt.
The location is excellent, less than one block from the Placa de Tiradentes (the central square). There are no hotels on the Praca, so no hotel in town has a better location and this one has a wonderful view and overlooks an artisans market, which is itself well work a visit.
I would gladly stay here again, but not more than a few days, due to the weak Wifi.
